Sometimes things don’t go the way you planned. I woke up on the day of the wedding with great rain clouds looming in the sky. Nevertheless, rain or shine, we do what we do and I smiled knowing it would be a great day to conquer. A garden wedding plus the threat of rain presents the possibility of a bride’s worst nightmare. There was erratic rain fall throughout the day until around 2pm, the coordinator finally voiced out what everyone else had been worrying about: where should the ceremony be? Plan A: garden wedding or Plan B: inside the convention center. The bride courageously stuck to Plan A. When 4pm came around, we were shooting the bride before the grand entrance when the rain started pouring down heavily. The bride was in tears and was busy trying to fix her makeup when I couldn’t help but say “It’s going to be okay Ma’am. It’s going to be a great wedding.” She looked at me with her tearful eyes and gave a small grateful smile, “You’re just lifting my spirit.” I simply smiled and told her matter-of-factly, “Once again, I’m sure it’s going to be a great wedding.” Despite the rain trying to dampen everyone’s spirits, it could not drown out the love the couple had for each other. Sometimes things don’t always go right, but sometimes that helps remind you of the things that are. It was a wedding like on other; an experience where their love was the ultimate highlight of the evening.
